Grilled Bratwurst
The perfect backyard barbecue food, you'd also find this traditional German specialty in a beer hall during Oktoberfest. Poaching the brats in spices infuses extra flavor and makes a nice change from the usual grilled brats.

6 Bratwursts
12 ounce(s) Beer
1 Onion, medium, chopped
to taste Peppercorns
4 teaspoon(s) Cloves, whole
6 Hard rolls
Gherkins, for accompaniment
Hot German mustard, for accompaniment


Instructions:
1. Combine bratwursts, beer, onion, peppercorns, and cloves in a 3-quart saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes; drain.
2. Preheat grill until hot. Grill bratwursts for about 10 minutes or until browned; sprinkle with a bit of water to form a crisp skin.
3. Serve in hard rolls with gherkins and mustard.
