Tomatillos are from the tomato family, but are not merely green tomatoes. Tomatillos have a tart, fruity flavor, with a hint of apple and lemon. Add tomatillos to guacamole, sauces, or salads, or blend with chiles, onion, cilantro and garlic for a simple salsa verde.
